Who We Are

About the MOSAK Foundation

A Ghanaian foundation built on one conviction: that talent is evenly distributed, opportunity is not — and that gap is ours to close.

Our Mission

To uplift brilliant, underprivileged Ghanaian students through fully funded, need-based scholarships, vocational training, leadership formation, and targeted social interventions — and to stay with every person we support until they can stand, and lift others.

Our Vision

A Ghana where no capable student's journey ends at a fee schedule — where every community can point to leaders it educated, and every scholar becomes a door-opener for the next generation.

What We Stand For

Our values

Dignity First

We serve people, not statistics. Every applicant, scholar, and community is treated with the respect their story deserves.

Depth over Breadth

We would rather transform five journeys completely than touch five hundred lightly. Our support is comprehensive and lasts to the finish line.

Radical Stewardship

Every cedi entrusted to us is a sacrifice from someone. We spend transparently and account openly.

Service that Multiplies

Every scholar signs a leadership pledge. The people we uplift commit to uplifting others — that is how one journey becomes many futures.

The Founder's Story

From one journey, many futures

Every foundation begins with a story, and ours begins with a boy for whom school was never guaranteed. Moses Akurugu Ade-Ena grew up where education was a yearly negotiation — between harvests and fees, between hope and arithmetic. Some years the arithmetic won. What kept his journey alive was never luck alone: it was a teacher who waived a fee, a neighbour who sold something precious, a stranger who decided one child's future was worth an inconvenience.

He carried those debts through secondary school and university, and discovered they could not be repaid — only forwarded. For years he did this quietly: fees settled without ceremony, books that appeared when they were needed, long evenings mentoring students who reminded him of himself.

The MOSAK Foundation is that private habit made public and permanent. It is named work now, with a structure sturdy enough to outlive its founder: four pillars, a flagship scholarship that leaves nothing uncovered, and a leadership pledge that turns every scholar into the next door-opener.

We keep our numbers deliberately small — five scholars a cohort, supported completely — because Moses learned from his own journey that half a scholarship rescues no one. The fee waived in one term means little if hunger ends the next. MOSAK stays until graduation. That is the whole model, and the whole point.

“Someone held the door open for me. I built MOSAK so that door never closes again — not on any child with the will to walk through it.”

— Moses Akurugu Ade-Ena

The Architecture

The four pillars

Everything MOSAK builds rests on four pillars. They are not four separate charities — they are four expressions of one belief, each reinforcing the others.

Education

Ade-Ena Scholars

Need-based scholarships that carry brilliant, underprivileged Ghanaian students through university.

Vocational

Skills for Life

Hands-on vocational training that turns raw talent into trades, incomes, and independence.

Leadership

Future Leaders

Leadership formation, mentorship, and a values pledge that shapes scholars into forces for good.

Social

Community Impact

Targeted social interventions that meet urgent community needs across Ghana.

How We Got Here

The journey so far

  1. The Seed

    A journey that almost ended

Moses Akurugu Ade-Ena's own education survives on the generosity of teachers, neighbours, and strangers. The conviction forms: no brilliant child should depend on luck.

  2. The Quiet Years

    Giving before the foundation

Long before MOSAK had a name, Moses quietly paid fees, bought books, and mentored students — one family at a time, learning what real support requires.

  3. The Commitment

    MOSAK Foundation is born

The informal giving becomes an institution. The four pillars are defined, and the Ade-Ena Scholars Program is designed: few scholars, full support, all the way.

  4. Today

    The first cohort

The first application cycle opens to all sixteen regions of Ghana. Five scholars per year will be carried through university — completely.
